I Now Pronounce You - Blind.

Living while Thriving with Vision Loss.

Why "I Now Pronounce You - Blind"?

When I was first diagnosed with vision loss, my eye specialist didn’t soften the news—she was blunt, straightforward, and left no room for denial. In that moment, it felt almost like a declaration, a pronouncement that changed my life.

At first, the words stung, but over time, I realized that accepting blindness wasn’t just about loss—it was about adapting to low vision, building independence, and finding new ways to thrive.

This website reflects that journey. The name might sound bold, but so is facing vision impairment head-on. Here, I embrace honesty, humor, and resilience, offering support for the blind and visually impaired, along with resources for families, caregivers, and those newly adjusting to sight loss.

At INowPronounceYou-Blind.org, my mission is to empower individuals with vision loss and their families by providing practical resources for the visually impaired, emotional support, inspiring success stories, and insights from my personal experiences and research on blindness and low vision.

I believe that vision loss does not define potential. Through education, accessibility, and advocacy for people who are blind, I strive to help individuals regain confidence, independence, and purpose. Whether you are newly experiencing vision loss or have been navigating it for years, this platform offers guidance, assistive technology insights, and a supportive visually impaired community.

My goal is to create a welcoming, informative, and accessible space where individuals and their loved ones can find the tools, encouragement, and support they need to thrive.

Logo: A Symbol of Hope and Support

The logo features a vibrant blue phoenix gently cradled in an open hand. This image was chosen with careful consideration to represent the journey and spirit of those newly navigating the world with vision loss.

The phoenix, a mythical bird known for its ability to rise from ashes, embodies the powerful theme of emergence and new beginnings. For someone experiencing recent vision impairment, life may feel like it's undergoing a significant transformation. The phoenix symbolizes the potential to rise above these challenges, to discover new strengths, and to embark on a new chapter filled with possibility. It reminds us that renewal and growth are always within reach even after profound change.

The open hand symbolizes support and guidance. It represents the resources, understanding, and community that inowpronounceyou-blind.org aims to provide. Just as the hand gently holds and offers the phoenix, we are here to offer a helping hand as you navigate this new landscape. This image speaks to your potential and inner strength and how we aim to nurture and empower that strength on your journey.

The deliberate choice of blue is also significant. Blue often evokes feelings of hope, clarity, and calm. As you learn to "pronounce" your world in a new way, we hope this color inspires a sense of peace and optimism.

Ultimately, our logo is a visual representation of our commitment to you. It signifies the journey of transformation, the support available, and the enduring hope for a fulfilling
